Four day engagement? Really? Yes, really!
Sabrina & Gordon planned on getting married in the near
future but never thought near meant immediately. Without going into great
detail, I can say that getting married sooner rather than later meant Gordon
not having to return to his native Scotland.
They got officially engaged on Saturday February 23rd,
and married on Tuesday February 26th. In that time they were able to
find a Justice of the Peace, a wedding dress and veil, flowers, and a location
for their big day. All of the arrangements were made via their smartphones
(their thumbs were quite sore after those few days!) and it all came together
very nicely. It is amazing to realize that sometimes the most important thing
of the day is that two people who really love each other are joining their
lives together.
The location was perfect. It was the home of Gordon’s
relatives here in Edmonton. The house overlooks the Mill Creek Ravine and the
light coming in through the windows was so beautiful.
Since the wedding was thrown together so quickly and they
realized that most people would not be able to make it to the wedding (Sabrina’s
brother just about didn’t make it back from a ski trip he was on and remember
that Gordon’s family is back home in Scotland) they utilized modern technology
and streamed the wedding live on the Internet for anyone to watch. People from
around the world were able to witness the beautiful event!
Dave and I have known Sabrina for many years (check out
Sabrina’s artwork post) so this was quite personal for us. We were thrilled to
be part of this wedding and could not be happier that Gordon and Sabrina are
now married. They are a fantastic couple and it is clear that they are very
much in love. No more than 2 seconds ever went by when they were not grinning
from ear to ear and gazing into each other’s eyes.
