The Dungarees

Taking a break from all the weddings we've been working on lately, we were thrilled when Robb Angus, formerly of The Wheat Pool, contacted us to do press shots for his new band, The Dungarees.

I love doing promotional shots. It is all about capturing the group in their element, doing their thing. We met the guys at their garage recording studio and didn't have to go farther than their back alley to find some cool locations.

Check out some of the cool stuff we got below and head over to the Promotions section of the site to see similar shots we've done.

Bromance at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival

This is weird.

In the last few years, I have done so much work for others that it is kind of strange working on something of my own. But yes, I am stepping back into the theatre world with my good friend Mark Stubbings, and we are mounting a brand new show at Red Square Vodka House for this year's fringe festival.

Bromance, a new comedy by Mark Stubbings. It has the awesome talents of Mark and Taylor Chadwick as club promoters Butch and Marcel who are about to have their lives changed by a woman played by Elena Porter. Even douchebags need love too. I am directing this baby.

This is going to be a fun show and I hope to see you down there.

Here are the details for when and where you can check it out!

Head Shots - Mari

I met Mari last year while doing promo shots for Promise Productions' Snow Globe Festival.

She emailed me saying that head shots were long over due and she wanted something gritty. We headed out on a really windy day to one of my favourite parkades. It was way too cold so we headed underground where the parkade was heated.

I love locations like this because it really easy to get several different looks within only a few feet. So many textures and interesting backdrops.

Here is a sampling of some of what we got done that day. For more head shots, swing on by the Promotion section of our site.

Send in the Girls Burlesque - March Madness

Send in the Girls Burlesque is BACK!

This time they are hitting the New City Legion with an awesome review called 'March Madness'. I always love working with these girls. Always the consummate professionals. They know what they want from the photos but aren't afraid to try something new.

I love how these photos turned out. Brad and I were talking about some of the most rewarding elements of photography for us, and right up on the list is the ability to take seemingly bland locations and make them into something awesome.

50 points if you can figure out where these ladies are standing!

The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe at the Snow Globe Festival for Children's Theatre

Sometimes a snowy day is a good thing.

Last weekend I was out with the Promise Productions crew once again, shooting their final images for their third show, The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

We were just about knee deep in Edmonton River Valley snow, but the cast in full costume were total professionals. You can't even tell in the photos how cold their feet were.

As a reminder, there is still time left to help support the Snow Globe Festival of Children's Theatre in it's inaugural voyage by heading over to their IndieGoGo page and donating some money to this worthy cause. You can also head over to their Facebook page for the most current festival info.

Also check out TIX on the Square to get your tickets for this awesome family, holiday activity.

As for us, visit our Promotion page to see over theatre promo images we've done.

Hope to see you at the festival!

The Not Evil Step Mother

I love working with Ellen Chorley and her company, Promise Productions. Year over year, she produces smart, entertaining and creative theatre shows that challenge young audiences and generally turn known stories on their heads.

This year at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival, Ellen is bringing us a MUSICAL. The show is called The Not Evil Step Mother and she quotes it as saying that it, "turns every fairy tale you’ve ever heard topsy turvy."

I also have to admit that I have a vested interest in the show this year as my wife Derrique is directing it. It promises to be a really fun show for all ages.

Here are the details:

The Not Evil Stepmother plays at the Venue 11 (PCL Studio at the TransAlta Arts Barns) on the following dates/ times:

Sunday, August 14 at 4:30 pm
