Urban Maternity

We were contacted by Meagan and Sean as they were the lucky recipients of a photo session purchased by her sister. Several months back, Brad and I donated a session to Watch Me Productions for their fundraiser for 'An Evening with Shel Silverstein". Brad and I being big supporters of the arts couldn't have been happier to help out.

When it was time for her session, Meagan (who is having twins) made it very clear that she didn't want the normal type of maternity shots, but really wanted something that matched her and her husband's personalities. She came to the right place. This is out favourite type of shoot.

Check out some of the stuff we got from that day and check the Portraits section of our page for other similar shoots we've done.

Jamie & Nicole

I have known Jamie and Nicole for several years now so I was thrilled that they selected Dave and I to photograph their upcoming wedding in September.

A few weeks ago we set out to take their engagement photos. After one postponement due to horrible storms we were able to get together to do the shoot (even though only an hour prior it looked like we might have to postpone due to weather again -  luckily it cleared up nicely!).

It was funny to hear them both express that they really didn't know what to do as the "models". Looking at the images we were able to capture, you would think they were pros!

We are looking forward to spending their wedding day with them... can't wait to see these pros in action again!!

A Fun Shoot on a Hot Day

It was +30°C.

I met Cynthia while doing photos for the Snow Globe Festival of Children's Theatre. As a Christmas present, she wanted to get a multi-generational family photo done. They were all going to be together in July and it would be the perfect opportunity.

Seven months later, we met up at Mill Creek ravine on the, to that point, hottest day of the year. Two grandparents, several kids and partners and 5 dogs later, we got some pretty fun stuff. They were such a great group to work with and I think it shows in the shots I got.

Take a look here and then head over to the Portraits section of the page to see other family photos we've done.

Naisa, Stera & Samara

Naisa and I worked together for years schlepping coffee at Starbucks. Through the virtues of Facebook we have stayed in touch long since we made our last lattés.

She has since been married and had her beautiful daughter, Samara.

It was time for family photos, so Brad and I went out to Rundle park with these three to capture a moment in time of this young family. Between the geese and the wadding in the water to get the shot, we had a blast.

Check out what we got from that day and more like this in the Portraits section of the site.

Erica & Tyler - Engagement Session

With just over a month until their wedding, we went with Erica & Tyler to take some engagement photos. We took them to the base of the High Level Bridge at the edge of Kinsmen Park and wandered around finding a ton of interesting little pockets for photos.

It was supposed to rain but it turned out to be a very hot day! We had a ton of fun rooting around the bushes and climbing on bridges again. Erica & Tyler were definitely up for whatever crazy suggestion we put to them. It is going to be a great wedding day for sure!!!

Here are some of our favourites from the engagement session:

Ruth & Justin

There's a train over head!

One of the things we love about engagement shoots is getting to know the couples of whom we will be taking photos of on their BIG DAY. It lets them get to see how Brad and I work without the stressful time crunch of getting the photo session done in the limited amount of time between the wedding ceremony and the reception.

Brad and I also get to see what the couple is like. What they find funny. The limits they will go to get the shot.

Ruth and Justin are fearless!

We took them to an active, iron railway bridge, had them climb up on the girders and THEN a train came over their heads! It was intense! But the shots speak for themselves. These two are a blast and we are really looking forward to September when we get to spend the whole day with them.

Check out the shots from that day and others like this in the Portraits section of the site.

cat & chris & slurpees

Cat & Chris know us through our other place of business. In case people don't know, Brad and I have a common day job as well as our photography.

These two awesome people are getting married out east this summer, but wanted us to do their session so they could show their Edmonton side off to their family and friends back home.

We started early at the Bunches in Parkallen where Cat workls part time. I'm glad I took my allergy pills!

We then moved into where Brad and I thrive. ALLEYS!

Behind Whyte Avenue on a Sunday morning, we found some new spots and Cat & Chris were more than game to let us try some stuff out.

Here is what we got. Check out similar shoots in the Portraits section of our page.

Enjoy!
